Shameless season 10 episode 6 spoilers: Debbie’s new idea

Coming up on Shameless season 10 episode 6, we’re going to see the thick of a custody battle. On one side of things, you’re going to have a chance to see Debbie. Meanwhile, on the other side of it, you’ve got Pepa. She’s shown a willingness to part with some of Derek’s death benefit, but in the process of that, she’s made it clear that she wants something else in return. Think along the lines of custody.

This, of course, now sets the foundation for what Debbie wants to do next. In a plot that reminds us very much that she is, in fact, Frank Gallagher’s daughter, she’s got an elaborate plan that involves her working in order to make Franny be as terrible of a kid as possible. If she can convince Pepa that she doesn’t want Franny around, maybe she can have her cake and eat it too.

In a sneak peek (which you can watch over at the link here). you can see Debbie try her best to coach her daughter on acting terrible — in other words, doing whatever she can in order to show Pepa that she’s unlikable and a nuisance to her home. The problem is that, fundamentally, Franny may be too good. She may not know how to misbehave enough — as unlikely as it may sound within the Gallagher household, it’s possible that Debbie has brought up her daughter to be too good of a person! Now, she’s going to contemplate seeing if she can borrow some other kid to serve as an imposter … which she may not find. Even if she does, it feels pretty hard to see how this is going to go altogether well at all.
