Madam Secretary season 6: Tea Leoni, Tim Daly, cast wrap series finale
In a pair of posts on Twitter, you can see what both Tea Leoni and Tim Daly have to say about wrapping up their time on the hit show as production on the series finale wraps. This is a show that has been life-changing for the two of them both personally and professionally. They’ve gotten so much out of this, just as it feels like we’ve also seen viewers get so much out of the characters of Elizabeth and Henry McCord.
Think about how difficult politics can be — it’s long been the subject of family arguments, negative headlines, and consequences for the entirety of the American people. While we don’t necessarily think that Madam Secretary has rendered all of those things impossible within its own world, we do think that it’s trying to show a more hopeful America. It’s presenting a vision where some people in power are trying to do the right thing for the country and aren’t just focusing on partisan matters.
With the nature of this show, we have a hard time thinking that the series finale will be about something other than hope. We imagine that this episode will air a little bit later this year, making way for a number of other different specials and programming in the new year. We know that the plan, at least for now, seems to be bringing on board NCIS: New Orleans to the old Madam Secretary timeslot starting in mid-February.
For those who are saddened to see the show end, we certainly understand that. Yet, remember this — it’s had a tremendous run. Six seasons is a long time for any show on the air these days, and it was able to accomplish quite a bit in the amount of time that it had.
