Legacies season 2 spoilers: Prepare for some headmaster conflict!

On this past episode of Legacies, we had a chance to witness the debut of Alexis Denisof as the new headmaster. What we know about Headmaster Vardemus is that he is quite skilled at his craft … but also very much mysterious. Should we trust him? We’d argue that the jury is still very much out on that, given that there are so many recurring characters within the greater Vampire Diaries universe who turn out to be rather nefarious. We’d have a hard time buying into anyone who came on in this position.

Also, we’re admittedly still protective of Alaric and almost no one will compare to him. We imagine that there will be some conflict between these two — as a matter of fact, we’re sure of it. Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, here is some of what Denisof had to say on the subject:

While he has a modicum of respect for the efforts that Alaric made in holding the school together and fighting the various monsters off, that’s a small part of how he feels. There’s more conflict there than there is agreement about style, content and curriculum. That conflict of opinion and essential belief about how the kids should behave and operate and learn to use their powers. It’s great material for their relationship. There’s a lot of fun and teasing. It’s great when characters can enjoy their disagreements with each other.

Beyond just what’s going on with these two characters, be prepared for the new headmaster to also be up to some strange/mysterious stuff with Josie. He identifies her skill, and he may be working overtime in order to ensure that she is properly trained … but for what? Does he have some sort of nefarious purpose in mind for her? That may not be something we know for a good while still, but we’re currently watching for it and are acutely aware of any/all possibilities.
