Prodigal Son episode 2 preview: Malcolm Bright battles his demons
Through “Annihilator,” one of the big things we’ll see is Tom Payne’s character of Malcolm Bright do his part to come to terms with what he just did — visit his father behind bars. The fact that his dad is a noted serial killer deeply informs his life — it’s one of the most identifiable things about him. It causes him to be good at profiling other serial killers, but we imagine that this is not an easy part of his brain to turn off. We’ll see him continue to work with Arroyo (Lou Diamond Phillips) on some of these cases, but at the same time try to understand more in terms of a sense of self … and who he wants to be in this position.
Below, CarterMatt has the full Prodigal Son episode 2 synopsis with some more news all about what’s coming up next:
Bright jumps at the chance to help Arroyo solve a quadruple homicide for the NYPD. As Bright slips into the mind of this serial killer, he finds himself dealing with the repercussions of seeing his father for the first time in years. Tormented by the terrors of his childhood, Bright is faced with a question: are his dreams just nightmares or did they actually happen? Don’t miss the all-new “Annihilator” episode of PRODIGAL SON airing Monday, Sept. 30 (9:01-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (PR-102) (TV-14 D, L, V)
Prodigal Son is going to be one of those series that, from start to finish, looks to balance out some of what’s happening within individual cases with Malcolm’s family history. It’s a delicate balancing act in order to maintain some of that. The pacing of the story from here will probably be related in some way to its own success. It’s a crazy thing to think about in some way — the show is humming along right now in production, without even knowing what viewers out there think about it.
