Who should come back: Felicity (Arrow), April (Grey’s Anatomy), & more!

One of the best things about watching a long-running series is that you get invested in so many of the characters! Yet, at the same time the downside here is that you find yourself feeling sad in the event that a given character departs. You come to miss them, and you want to see them back in whatever way possible.

Ultimately, this is what this entire CarterMatt poll series for the month of September is all about! Within this article, we have six different characters who are missed by many on their respective shows. At the end of the article, there’s a poll for you to vote for who you’d love to see back! The two characters with the most votes will move on to the next round. The only real criteria we have is that these characters are not currently series regulars on their former shows — and they are still among the living.

Kono Kalakaua, Hawaii Five-0 – If you are thinking about an expert in her craft and someone who is sorely missed on her show, Kono fits all of that perfectly. She was an exceptional member of the Task Force, but she’s since been traveling the country trying to stop sex traffickers. We like to think that eventually, she could visit old friends again!

Erin Lindsay, Chicago PD – Seeing Sophia Bush back on the show feels like somewhat of a long shot, given that she claims that she was unhappy leading up to her departure. Yet, we do still wonder how Lindsay is doing in her new gig at the FBI. (Speaking of which, wouldn’t it be wild if she turned up on FBI down the road?)

April Kepner, Grey’s Anatomy – A fantastic character who brought a rich story to the medical drama, but also one that we’ve been without for quite some time. Both Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw both departed at the same time, and while it doesn’t seem there are any immediate plans for them to come back, never say never right?

Felicity Smoak, Arrow – By far the most recent of the departures on this list, as it was mere months ago when the character had her big farewell! Emily Bett Rickards is off now pursuing other things and while there’s hardly a guarantee she will return again, we’re cautiously optimistic that she could surface in the series finale.

Sonja Percy, NCIS: New Orleans – The character’s relationship with Lasalle is the ultimate “what could have been” in crime TV pairings — she was enthusiastic, fun, but also determined in her career. Like Emily Rickards, Shalita Grant left to pursue other opportunities … but we’d love for her to stop by again down the line.

Sidney Chambers, Grantchester – James Norton’s story departing the show is similar to Emily and Shalita’s, as he has a whole chorus of other gigs out there for him. We understand the choice to leave, but we miss him as the heartfelt-but-determined vicar within the world of this show already.
