Outlander season 5: Sam Heughan on the next stage of filming
For the latest reminder of where things are in production now, check out what we’ve got for you HERE via Sam Heughan on Instagram. In that post, Sam notes that he and the rest of the cast are starting to film the penultimate block of episodes. That means, basically, that the cast is working now on the final four episodes of the season. (Typically, a “block” means two different episodes, which are often filmed within the same stretch of time.)
This time-frame charts out well with everything else that we’ve heard in regards to the fifth season, with production going on while Sam, Caitriona Balfe, and other cast members are at New York Comic-Con promoting the show. Filming should wrap before the holidays, which is plenty of time for the post-production wizards to get things together for the show’s February launch. They are already hard at work on getting some of the earlier episodes together, as many of them are already in the can at this point.
The start of filming the latest block comes after Sam spent some time this past weekend working on his Clan Lands podcast with Graham McTavish. Meanwhile, Balfe has also been promoting her movie Ford v. Ferrari, which is slated to be a possible contender during awards season. Sam will wear his own movie-promotion hat in the new year, when Bloodshot eventually works its way to the big screen.
