The Good Doctor season 3 spoilers: Robert Sean Leonard to guest star!
According to a new report from TVLine, Leonard will be in the third episode of the new season, playing the role of an “avid sports fisherman” by the name of Shamus O’Malley. He is going to arrive to the hospital following a fishing accident — one that is going to cause some chaos in terms of both what happened to him and the delicate nature of the operation. While Shamus is being operated on, you will also see in this episode Claire leading her first ever surgery.

There is a lot of interesting stuff to come within this episode given Leonard’s character, and we also do think that he probably wanted to play a very different character to anyone he took on back when House was on the air. We, of course, would love to see Hugh Laurie on the show at some point … but that’s not really our focus at the moment. Instead, the primary objective that we’ve got for the series at the moment is just to enjoy the story and Shaun Murphy’s journey. We know that he is entering the third season in an interesting position — we know a thing or two about where his head is at romantically, but he also needs to establish who he is as a doctor. He had lost his job for a little while at the end of season 2, but he and Dr. Andrews both fought to get him where he needs to be.
The great news is this — we’re just under two weeks away from the premiere! The wait is almost over.
