Grey’s Anatomy season 16: How long could Jackson stay lost?
In the closing minutes of the season 15 finale, we saw Avery disappear into the fog — Maggie doesn’t know what happened to him, and we’ve got a good feeling that this mystery will be resolved within the first episode of the new season.

Yet, also remember this — Jackson’s fate doesn’t have to be so much about life and death. We know that he is going to survive, so there is no clear mystery here. Yet, there is still a much larger mystery here — is her hurt? Has someone done something to him?
Don’t be surprised if the season 16 premiere does put Jackson’s life on the line to some degree and on the other side, maybe he could have a different perspective on life. If you think about his arc in season 15, there is one clear word to describe it: Confusion. The Jackson character found himself lost and unsure of what he wanted and whatever his future was going to be. Romantically, that included things with Maggie. In terms of his legacy as a doctor, there were question marks there. On the other side of the Harper Avery scandal he had to contend with the notion that his family name didn’t mean all that much anymore.
With this in mind, what we’re hoping to see coming in season 16 is Jackson finding his place and cementing something that is about himself — not so much about Harper Avery, and also not so much about his mother Catherine Fox. While this could be the season of family for a number of Grey’s Anatomy characters, for Jackson the goal should be clearer. This should be the season of self more so than anything else.
