Songland promo: Charlie Puth gets emotional after performance

The latest episode of Songland is coming onto NBC this Wednesday, and we’re going to see another star in Charlie Puth enter the room. He’s an immensely talented guy who is unafraid to take chances — he can bend and mold a number of different genres and create music that is truly unique. It also seems as though he is entering the show fairly open-minded as to what he’s looking to achieve from being in the studio. We often think that this is very much a good thing.

In the video below, you can get a little bit more in the way of how much Puth is invested in this search for his next song. He gets emotionally invested in hearing someone to the point of breaking down in tears. It’s a powerful moment that shows that he wants to be there, and odds are, he’s going to do everything that he can to channel this passion into something great.

One of the craziest things about this show, though, is that just because this is an emotional moment doesn’t mean that the song is right for Charlie. He’s going to hear all of the performances, check out the finished versions, and in the end, choose what he wants to do. More than anything, he is going to choose just one song at the end of this … though people have broken some of the rules before.

One of the saddest things about where we are in Songland at the moment is just recognizing that we’re nearing the end of this season and knowing that there are only so many more opportunities that we’re going to have to celebrate the creativity of this show. We’re going to miss it when it’s gone, and we certainly hope that there will be chances to see it back again in the summer. Isn’t this the perfect show for this time of the year?
