Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 11 sneak peek: Alicia’s struggle
The first shot of the episode is a beautiful one, as you can see from above what the tree looks like as Alicia stands before it, reading the message of hope inscribed across is. She’s made trying to get answers on this into a goal of hers through the episodes to come, and we’ll have to see exactly how this manifests itself.
In the immediate future, though, Alicia is going to have a very different struggle on her hands: Trying to deal with zombies that are all around the tree. She struggles to grab hold of her knife, and it’s at that point she calls on Strand for help. That’s when he comes through and uses Alicia’s signature weapon from the first half of the season to take some of them out. Both of them are okay, and some of these particularly-gross zombies are now gone.

The question you’re left to wonder here, beyond of course who wrote the message on the tree, is whether or not Alicia is going to find it in her to become some sort of zombie-killer again. We don’t think she’s going to struggle with killing forever, but she is where she is right now and this is Fear the Walking Dead doing its part in order to showcase that. It doesn’t want to misrepresent where this character is right now by having her just revert to her previous killing machine.
By the end of the preview, we’re starting to think that either Madison is coming back to this show somehow (hence Alicia wondering if the universe is trying to tell her something) or the writers are just trying to troll us. If it’s the latter … we could certainly be annoyed with that.
