Crisis on Infinite Earths spoilers: First look at the Anti-Monitor
In a post on Twitter (which CarterMatt has for you to see below), executive producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed that the former The Last Ship and Designated Survivor actor is going to be playing The Anti-Monitor, and even showed off some concept art as proof. The Anti-Monitor is who The Monitor has been warning the heroes about, at least in the vaguest terms possible. He is one of the most powerful foes within the DC Comics world; within the original Crisis on Infinite Earths comics the Anti-Monitor is responsible for destroying whole universes. The same goes for him being able to kill multiple superheroes at the same time.
We know that the TV version of Crisis on Infinite Earths is not going to mirror directly what happens in the comics. There could be a body count in the crossover, but it’s likely not going to be the same people. After all, all of the shows within the Arrowverse are poised to continue on the other side of the crossover, even the main Arrow itself. It won’t be on for a long period of time after Crisis on Infinite Earths, but judging from the visit Felicity receives in the season 7 finale, Oliver Queen may still be alive — somewhere.
This crossover is going to begin at the end of the year, but with the way it’s being hyped up and with the promotional tour that Garrett went on at Comic-Con this year, you’d think that it was almost a separate series in its own right. It will run for five parts, cross all of the major Arrowverse shows (including Batwoman), and be the culmination of everything we’ve seen the past several years. This event was first hinted at back at the very start of The Flash; we’ve known that it was coming since way back when, but the timing of it has been pushed a little bit forward.
