Crisis on Infinite Earths spoilers: Brandon Routh playing Superman
According to Deadline, both Routh (who played the character/Clark Kent in Superman Returns) and Tyler Hoechlin (who has played him through all of the Arrowverse so far) will take on the character in different time frames. What that means with this crossover remains to be seen, but it shows an added commitment to make this event as awesome and epic as possible. While there are many at this point who best know Routh for being Ray Palmer on Arrow/Legends of Tomorrow, he’ll always be Superman to a certain generation of people. This is an exciting opportunity for him to step back into that cape and have a certain element of nostalgia once more in his life.
More information about all of this is slated to be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con over the next few days — maybe this news almost compensates for Legends of Tomorrow not getting an official panel. Tala Ashe won the Arrowverse internet for suggesting that Legends getting a snub is the most on-brand thing to ever happen to this show.
This news is great for Routh, but it also counts as another feather in the cap of Hoechlin to continue to have opportunities to come back to the Arrowverse. In between this and him voicing Sephiroth in the Final Fantasy VII Remake, this is a good few months for the former Teen Wolf star!
The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event is airing later this year on The CW, and it will carry over into 2020. It’s so big that there are specific executive producers working on it from several different shows and it’s being plotted out in a way that puts every other crossover event to shame. All of that makes sense, given its magnitude in the comics and also some of what transpires there.
If you missed it – It was announced on yesterday that Winn Schott is going to be returning to Supergirl for an arc. For some more news, be sure to visit the link here.
