Emmys 2019: Outlander, Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Ricky Gervais among readers’ dream nominees

Outlander season 4

Tomorrow morning, the 2019 Emmy nominations are going to be announced in Los Angeles, but within this article, we’re announcing something a little different — your dream nominations! Throughout the past month and a half, CarterMatt readers have been voting for their favorite potential nominee across a number of different categories. This is a longstanding tradition here at the site and today, we come bearing the official results! Thanks to everyone who voted, and for your love of all things TV.

Now, let’s get to sharing some of those reader results!

Drama Actress – Caitriona Balfe, Outlander. This was a race for much of the past month between Balfe and Lauren German of Lucifer fame, but with Caitriona eventually coming out on top!

Drama Actor – Sam Heughan, Outlander. We know that there have long been many people who feel as though the Emmys, the Golden Globes, and other shows have been snubbing Sam (and we are included on that, he’s long overdue!). One thing we do know is that his fans come out for him, time and time again.

Drama Supporting Actor – Richard Rankin, Outlander. This was one of the strongest overall victories of the entire polling period. Look at things this way — Richard had more total votes than everyone else combined.

Drama Supporting Actress – Sophie Skelton, Outlander. Sophie’s fans won a hard-fought battle against supporters of Suits star Sarah Rafferty; in the end, they were able to come out on top.

Drama Series – Outlander. Why not go ahead and make this a clean sweep? It’s another reminder Outlander fans are fierce!

Comedy Actress – Justina Machado, One Day at a Time. At the start of the voting window, the series was still in limbo — not only does Machado have the love of her fans following this, but also a show to officially go back to!

Comedy Actor – Ricky Gervais, After Life. Gervais delivered his best work as an actor in this Netflix series, and it’s a joy to see him get the recognition that he deserves for it — at least from readers.

Comedy Series – One Day at a Time. Despite stiff competition from After Life, the sitcom was able to pull this off!

Actor in a Limited Series/Movie – Jared Harris, Chernobyl. It’s one of the best shows with incredible performances. Yet, sometimes this series doesn’t always get the love it so deserves.

Actress in a Limited Series/Movie – Amy Adams, Sharp Objects. It was a close battle for our readers, but Adams eked out a win here with just a few votes over the competition.

Limited Series – Chernobyl. The HBO series gets another great stamp of approval from our readers.

Did some of your favorite potential nominees win our Emmy polls? Be sure to share in the comments.
