America’s Got Talent: Is Kodi Lee still the season 14 favorite?
There are some acts over the past few weeks who have shown themselves to be threats to Kodi following his epic, emotional Golden Buzzer performance. Verba Shadow from this past week was phenomenal, viewers already seem fully on board with singer Ansley Burns, and Eric Chien could be that under-the-radar magician who gets better and better as time goes by. We also love Dom Chambers and we don’t think that you can underestimate the Dominguez Poodles — America loves dogs!
Yet, for now, Kodi does remain the most popular America’s Got Talent audition of the season on YouTube — sure, he’s had more time to accumulate hits than some of the others, but we’re not discounting his success at getting viewers on his side. He’s innately likable, has a wonderful story, and an incredible voice. Also, remember that we’ve only heard one of his performances and the best may still be to come. The main thing he has to worry about is making sure viewers don’t forget about him; he won’t be in judge cuts so by the time he surfaces again on the live shows, he will have been off of our screens for a long time.

In general, we’re one to often believe that the first Golden Buzzer recipient sets the tone for the rest of the season — last year, that was Zurcaroh and they made it all the way to the finale. This time around, it should be Kodi. There is still another audition show to come, one that could feature Julianne Hough’s Golden Buzzer, so we’re not ruling anything out. (Tuesday’s episode may be more of a clip show, as AGT is looking to not lose a lot of ratings moment the week of the fourth of July.
