Is The Amazing Race renewed for season 32? Premiere date hopes
There’s no sense in wasting time before we share the great news: Tonight’s finale is not the series finale. The Amazing Race season 32 is happening! Not only that, but you’ll be pleased to know that filming is already complete. Production started near the end of last year and wrapped up priority to the holidays.
As for the finer details, signs point to this season being closer in casting to traditional Amazing Race seasons. There’s no evidence of this being another “reality showdown” and it could actually involve non-famous people once again. To us, this news is a delight. Sure, there was a lot of fun to be had from seeing so many familiar faces this time around, but to us the best Amazing Race seasons are the ones that stick closest to the original premise. We know that one of the first travel destinations of the season is Tobago, which marks the first time the series has ventured off to Trinidad and Tobago. That’s one of the show’s more frequent challenges: Trying to keep finding new locations after having visited so many different places over the years.
It’s easy to elicit groans when you see repeat challenges or locations, but this is a show in season 32. Yes, we get it that it’s a huge world and there are unlimited theoretical destinations, but the operative word there is theoretical. Some places are too dangerous. Others are a logistical nightmare. We’ll be the first to say that we’d love for The Amazing Race to visit remote places like Greenland, Siberia, or different parts of Africa, but you have to find ways to book proper travel for not just the team, but also the crew. That’s not easy at the last minute.

When will The Amazing Race season 32 premiere?
CBS hasn’t announced a firm premiere date; however, they confirmed at upfronts last month that the new season will premiere within the 2019-20 season. The earliest the show could return is January, and that is something they easily could do. With The World’s Best proving to not produce the world’s best ratings, we would argue for the Race to return to a similar timeslot it had for most of season 30. It’s a perfect midseason fill-in for Survivor and it could also serve as a good companion for the final season of Criminal Minds.
If season 32 doesn’t premiere then, another option could be for CBS to wait until another show concludes in the spring to launch it — think in terms of what they chose to do for season 31. We don’t love the idea in-season shows shifting into the summer, but whatever gets the show back for another season is something we’ll celebrate. We don’t want season 32 to be the final one; there’s no confirmation as to whether or not it will be at present.
