Blue Bloods season 9 episode 20 review: Do Jamie, Eddie want kids?
Take, for example, Jamie and Eddie. We anticipated that there would be a story for them tonight, but who thought we’d get a discussion about kids, and whether or not the two actually wanted them? They had an important case to work on, but we started to think that the story instead was more about the two of them being possible parents down the line.
At the end of the episode, we actually started to think that the show was going down the route of Jamie and Eddie getting a dog instead — but, as it turns out, she actually visits the animal center on a regular basis for a little bit of TLC. In the end, we do think that kids are still at least on the table.
As for what else happened tonight on the show, we had a chance to see the continuation of the storyline with Erin and the Governor. He wanted to pass a crime bill, but the problem here was finding a way in order to get Frank on board. This meant that Erin and had to deal with Frank on the subject, and that was certainly not something that he was altogether interested in doing at the moment.
Was Erin happy at the end of the episode that she got out from under her father’s shell? Sure, but at the same time, she was also upset that he raked her over the coals over the deal only for him to end up taking it. As it turns out, Frank ended up making a deal with him over a number of different things — one that apparently included making sure that a cop killer did not get out on parole.
As it turns out, despite all of this, Erin now seems to Frank a favor. Poor Erin.
CarterMatt Verdict
Overall, Blue Bloods season 9 episode 20 delivered a fantastic story that was chock full of all sorts of twists for Jamie, Eddie, and Frank, but also a case for Danny and Baez that really just feels like it’s forgotten in the midst of all of that. We expected that the Frank and Erin story would end up taking center stage. However, what was a little less expected was seeing Jamie and Eddie have the discussions that they had about kids in this episode and not knowing precisely what the future holds. It was handled maturely, and in a way that very much felt nuanced.
