Last Man Standing season 7 episode 21 return date: ‘The Favourite’ arrives

Last Man Standing

There are only two more episodes to go in Last Man Standing season 7, but the unfortunate news worth reporting here is that, once again, you gotta wait for them. Why all of the hiatuses so close to the end of the season? It’s enough to make you scratch your chin and wonder if Fox is going to reconsider some of the way that they are structuring their episodes for this season. Sure, it was great to get those big batches of new episodes in the late winter and in the fall, but it’s coming at the expense of some long hiatuses now.

Here’s something to cheer you up – If you haven’t heard, the series was officially renewed for a season 8 earlier this week! Check out some more discussion about that below, and on the other side of it be sure to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for more great information that you don’t want to miss. Also, we have an official Last Man Standing playlist if you want to say up to date with all sorts of information regarding the show.

If there’s a silver lining mixed in to the hiatus-sadness here, it’s that the next Last Man Standing is coming in two weeks — it’s not as terrible as the hiatus we just went through. The finale will be the week after that, meaning that this is the last hiatus that you’re going to have this season. Season 7 episode 21 is entitled “The Favourite” (yes, for some reason, it’s the UK spelling of the word), and you can get a little more information all about that in the synopsis:

Mike and Chuck get their game on when Ed has a pinball machine installed in the office. Meanwhile, Kristen and Mandy become jealous of a poem Vanessa wrote for Jen in the all-new “The Favourite” episode of LAST MAN STANDING airing Friday, May 3 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LMS-721) (TV-PG D, L)

If we had to guess, “The Favourite” may be some sort of lounge-in-cheek reference to the nature of Vanessa’s poem, which could have some sort of Old English quality to it. The other idea is that maybe it is the name of the pinball machine that is taking Outdoor Man by storm. We don’t really get the sense that either one of these storylines are going to take the world of Last Man Standing and turn it upside down — these feel kind of like standard sitcom storylines — but you can’t just shake up the universe every single week. Some of the best episodes of any comedy are ones that start from a simple place, spiral out of control, and then tie up their loose ends within the closing moments. The best thing that you can hope for is something similar from this.
