Into the Badlands season 3 episode 9 return date revealed; series ending

There is some good news and very bad news to report today on Into the Badlands, starting with the show’s return date. After a super-long wait, the AMC series is finally going to return with new episodes on Sunday, March 24 following a new episode of The Walking Dead. Yet, at the same exact time, we’ve also heard that the remaining eight episodes are going to be the final ones for the martial-arts show.

Is this something that we could see coming? In some ways, sure given Into the Badlands has been sitting on the shelf for a while. This is a series that certainly did deserve a little more attention than it had during its run, mostly because it took a genre that wasn’t getting the representation it deserved and found a way to somehow highlight it. It brought new life into it with great new characters and interesting twists and turns. It certainly had some comedic moments, but also some of the most-intense fight scenes that we’ve seen in quite some time.

Season 3 episode 9 will kick off with Sunny feeling the aftermath of his decision with Pilgrim. He decided to save his son, but in doing so, he may have caused some chaos, pain, and destruction for some other people. That’s the position that we’re in right now and by all means, it is a delicate one. It’s hard to know exactly how some of the characters will move forward in the aftermath of it.

As we enter the final chapter of Into the Badlands, an imprisoned Bajie warns Sunny that Pilgrim can’t be trusted. But with his son’s life on the line, Sunny struggles with his decision to help Pilgrim unlock the Meridian Chamber. Meanwhile, M.K., still reeling from the revelation that Sunny killed his mother, is hell-bent on revenge. Kidnapped by The Master, the Widow is forced to confront her past. Moon meanwhile races to save Lydia from impending death after she risked her life for his on the battlefield. As the last episodes unfold, long buried secrets will be revealed, new alliances will be forged, and the saga will climax in an epic battle to end all battles.

Following the episode 9 premiere, Into the Badlands will air on Monday nights at 10:00 p.m. starting on March 25.

If we do hear anything about a future for Into the Badlands (which was down in its ratings for the first half of season 3) elsewhere, we will pass the information along.
