The Flash season 5 episode 13 preview: The stakes to stop Cicada

Flash season 5 episode 2

The Flash season 5 episode 13 will arrive on The CW next week, regardless of what happens with the State of the Union. (We point this out mostly because the Presidential Address is causing some chaos on networks elsewhere.) This episode, dare we say, may be one of the most important of the entire season. The stakes in order to stop Cicada are perhaps higher than they’ve ever been, and we’re going to be seeing characters go through quite a bit in order to ensure that this guy is gone. How far are they willing to go? That’s something that Barry and Ralph, in particular, have to figure out.

For Barry, we imagine that one of the influencing factors is what he’s gone through already this season. He’s seen his daughter face paralyzation because of Cicada, and he’s unlocked a rage and a wave of anger that he didn’t before now … save for maybe a brief period of time in which he was the Green Arrow in Elseworlds. This should be a fascinating episode just because you’re going to see characters face some tough choices, ones that cause them to look outside of their typical sphere of influence. That is often what you want if you are watching a TV show — finding a way to mix things up.

Below, CarterMatt does have the official The Flash season 5 episode 13 synopsis for you with some other news as to what’s ahead:

BARRY AND IRIS EACH TAKE DANGEROUS STEPS TO STOP CICADA – Barry (Grant Gustin) and Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) must go undercover as criminals in an illegal black market to purchase a device that could help them stop Cicada (Chris Klein). Once inside, Barry and Ralph find their morality tested as they slip deeper into the criminal world, eventually having to choose between committing a crime or losing the means to defeat one of their greatest foes. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) investigates a lead on Cicada’s whereabouts and ends up in a dangerous situation. Alexandra LaRoche directed the episode written by Jonathan Butler & Gabriel Garza (#513). Original airdate 2/5/2019.

Before we make it to the end of this episode, it’s fair to say that the game will be changed when it comes to Cicada. As to how much, we’ll have to wait and see…
