Death in Paradise season 8 episode 3 video: A TV presenter drowns!
In the video that CarterMatt has for you below, you get a good sense of the drama at the center of this upcoming episode — a small TV production crew arrives to Saint Marie in hopes of featuring it for a travel show. However, at some point during their time there, the show’s presenter — a woman who seemed to be rather enthusiastic about her job — turns up dead. What’s the apparent cause of death? Drowning.
Yet, it’s hard to imagine how this would be the case. Typically, someone wouldn’t go swimming in the ocean unless they already knew how, especially when they had the responsibility of a TV show around them. They wouldn’t risk their own well-being or the jobs of the crew members around them. It’s fairly easy to suspect some foul play here, which is probably what causes our heroes to kick-start an investigation.
There are certainly a number of different questions worth pondering over, with one of the principal ones being who among the crew had a motive to do something like this? Is it possible that someone else wants to host the show and offing the current presenter is the easy way to do it? Or, is it possible that a crew member had another job waiting for them that was better, and had to find a way to get out of this one first? We presume that both of these scenarios are possible, but it seems even more likely to us that whoever committed this act probably had more of a personal reason to do so. It feels like there are other means to find a new hosting gig or a different job than murdering someone — the reasoning behind that has to be pretty extreme.
No matter the reason, this episode seems to be doing much of what Death in Paradise does best — set up an excellent case that tests many of the detectives as they have to do more or less everything within their power to come up with an answer that makes sense. There’s also probably going to be some clever twists that keep the audience guessing along the way. The best installments of this show are the ones where the viewers get to feel involved in the guessing game at every single step.
