In the end, Howie decided to use it early on Angelica Hale! This makes her, as far as we can recall, the first person to ever get two Golden Buzzers on either the US or the British version of the show. Neither Susan Boyle nor Deadly Games got one on their first season of their respective shows. (They didn’t exist for Susan way back when.) Angelica got the Golden Buzzer from Chris Hardwick in the Judge Cuts round of her first season.
Did Angelica deserve it? It’s really hard to argue against it, given that her performance of “Fight Song” was on another level. She brought everything to this performance — falsetto, big notes, a unique arrangement, and also improved stage presence. That’s one of the great things about younger contestants coming back on the show, mostly because of the growth that they can show between seasons. Everything that she did here was better than what she did the first go-around.
Moving forward, we know that Angelica will be a contender for the grand prize and she’s got a reasonably good shot at it. America loves singers, she’s got a great legacy on this show, and we know that she’ll bring it for the finale. Of course, we know that she’s going to have some pretty serious competition by the time we get around to the finale.
Of course, we don’t think that every single person is going to agree with Howie’s choice — after all, when do people ever agree on anything?
