Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen episode 7: Brother Luck leaves; who returns?
So why did he go? As he explained after being eliminated on this past episode, he made the decision to depart because he doesn’t feel he has anything to give anymore. We do get it, to a certain degree. If he feels like he doesn’t have anything to prove anymore, why stick around? He clearly feels like he’s done enough and it’s time for one of the other chefs to get a chance.
With that in mind, Brother did end up giving a second chance to some of the other eliminated chefs — at least the ones from this particular season. All of the returning chefs are gone, and it was really just up to the five original Kentucky chefs to prove themselves. The challenge was simple here in that the chefs had to push themselves for a blind taste test. Tom Colicchio wasn’t going to be at the tasting and because of that, he wouldn’t know what anyone was making. There was no bias here and he could just enjoy some of the food.
So who actually ended up earning yet another chance to compete? It was none other than Pablo! All of these chefs had a tough challenge tonight, mostly because none of them actually entered the kitchen expecting to have to make something! He was just the one best able to take all of the ingredients handed to them and figure out a way in which for them to sing on a plate. It was no easy task but, in the end, he does have a lot to be happy about here. He kept things fairly simple and in some ways, it turns out that this was best. Good technique is almost always going to shine past almost everything.
Now, we’ll just have to see if there’s a way in which for Pablo to make the most of what is basically a third chance at the competition now.
