Golden Globes 2019 winners list: Richard Madden, The Americans, & more
Be sure to refresh this article for more winners throughout the night!
Comedy Actor – Michael Douglas, The Kominsky Method. We don’t have a huge problem with Douglas winning based on the quality of his work. Yet, at the same time this did feel like the Globes giving someone a trophy for them being the biggest name in the room.
Drama Actor – Richard Madden, Bodyguard. This didn’t surprise us much at all, given the huge popularity of Bodyguard all over the world. He was fantastic in the role, but also understated and humble in his acceptance speech.
Drama Series – The Americans. It was its final chance to get the awards love, but it got it tonight in a big, bold way!
Supporting Actor – Ben Whishaw, A Very English Scandal. We don’t know how many American viewers are even familiar with this show, but it’s certainly worthwhile — and maybe this allows it some publicity.
Limited Series Actress – Patricia Arquette, Escape at Dannemore – This was fun, especially since her director in Ben Stiller was in attendance.
Drama Actress – Sandra Oh, Killing Eve. She was fantastic in the role and beyond that, this is a rare occasion of a host at the show also actually winning a trophy.
Supporting Actress – Patricia Clarkson, Sharp Objects. Given how shocking and trying this role is, there’s nothing about this victory that surprises us.
Limited Series Actor – Darren Criss, The Assassination of Gianni Versace. This was probably the closest thing to a slam-dunk on the night.
Comedy Actress – Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It doesn’t have the same buzz that it once did, but it’s certainly still popular.
Comedy Series – The Kominsky Method. A small surprise, mostly because we thought the honors here would be saved for the actors.
Limited Series – The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. We expected Criss to get a run, but not so much the series itself.
