Cable Ratings: Ray Donovan, grown-ish season 2, Angie Tribeca
So how did these three shows fare over the course of the past several days? Let’s take a closer look within this very piece!
Ray Donovan – Let’s start with good news for the Showtime drama, which improved to almost 950,000 total viewers — a small increase versus the prior week. That was expected on some level, mostly because we’re talking about a series that wasn’t airing two days before Christmas this time around. The show already has a season 7 renewal, but we do think that it does continue to matter on some level that the series performs well. It’s the big ticket to ensuring further that it stays as relevant as possible for a long time.
grown-ish season 2 – Meanwhile, the black-ish spin-off series kicked off this year with a fairly-impressive 0.3 rating in the demo. While this was down versus the series premiere, it is very much in line with the show’s season 1 average. We don’t foresee there being any immediate danger for the series since Freeform has to care about its strong social-media showing … right? Well, we at least like to think so, but that didn’t really seem to matter for Shadowhunters. We do still think that grown-ish is okay for the time being.
Angie Tribeca – We still don’t get the programming decision by TBS to effective bury the most-recent season of the show at a time in which nobody was going to watch it over the weekend. That’s probably why it only averaged a 0.1 rating in the demo. While we do think Angie Tribeca will repeat well and get some DVR viewers after the fact, we don’t exactly think that a season 5 is going to be coming on the other side of this. How could you be confident with everything that we’ve just spelled out?
Of course, we don’t anticipate renewal / cancellation news for either grown-ish or Angie Tribeca for a while, but it is absolutely something that we’re going to keep our eyes peeled for.
