Killing Eve season 2 premiere date revealed at BBC America; first info
For those out there who are eager for some information on Killing Eve season 2, we come bearing good news! Today, BBC America confirmed that the latest batch of episodes for their hit drama will premiere on Sunday, April 7 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. Just in case you’re wondering about the timeslot, there’s a simple answer: This is BBC America showing zero interest in competing directly against Game of Thrones.
The first season of this series, starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, proved to be a huge critical hit for the network and extremely successful overseas. It’s a show that is very much about good vs. evil, but it’s also about how the lives of these two women get progressively more complicated and dangerous over time. We think that there is a really-high bar that has been set for this upcoming batch of episodes, but we certainly do think that this show is capable of matching it thanks to the talent involved.
Curious in getting some more info about the story? Then take a look at the official season 2 logline below:
Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer reprise their critically-acclaimed performances as Eve (Oh), an MI6 operative, and psychopath assassin Villanelle (Comer) in this story of two women, bound by a mutual obsession and one brutal act. Beginning just after the end of the final episode of season one, Villanelle has disappeared, and Eve is left reeling, having no idea if the woman she stabbed is alive or dead. With both of them in deep trouble, Eve has to find Villanelle before someone else does…but unfortunately, she’s not the only person looking for her.
In a statement discussing the show’s return, AMC Entertainment Networks President Sarah Barnett had the following to say:
“Killing Eve is picking up exactly 36 heart-thumping seconds after the events of the season finale … This new season is packed with superlative performances and is as twisty, subversive, darkly funny, nerve-wracking and pleasurable as our fans could desire.”
This new season is going to get an outstanding promotional push that is starting on Sunday, as Sandra Oh is going to be serving as one of the co-hosts for the Golden Globes alongside Andy Samberg. These two don’t have a huge history of working together, but did enough on the Emmys to eventually earn them the spot here. That’s at least a chance for some mainstream viewers to discover this show in the event that they haven’t already.
