New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2019 start time, where to watch festivities
As it’s been for so many years, including when Dick Clark was the host, you’re going to have a chance to see the broadcast in full over on ABC. Programming is going to start over at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time and over the course of a few hours, you’re going to see a variety of celebrations across multiple time-zones including a number of big names. As previously reported, you’ll get a chance to see the likes of Christina Aguilera and New Kids on the Block perform, and those are just some of the notable names at Times Square.
One thing to keep in mind if you’re new to watching New Year’s Rockin’ Eve as an institution is that while it does start at 8:00, it doesn’t really get going strong until later in the night. At around 10:00 p.m. Eastern there are some more notable performances, but after a short break at 11:00 p.m. things really start to get going at 11:30. There is typically one featured performance right before midnight, and then you get a performance of John Legend’s “Imagine” following by the famous dropping of the ball in Times Square. If you’re a diehard TV viewer, this is something of an annual tradition.
If you’re looking for an authorized live stream for the night, you can check one out over at the link here. With that being said, note that you will have to validate your cable subscription in order to watch.
Even if you don’t watch all of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve tonight, what better thing to just put on in the background while you take part in some of your traditional festivities? Let’s face it — while it may be tempting to enjoy some sort of big, outdoor party, who really wants to go out in some of this weather? It’s insanely cold this time of year and to us, having a New Year’s celebration indoors with some TV and a good drink or two is as much fun as anything.
