Top Chef: Kentucky episode 5 preview: The double elimination cometh

Top Chef season 15 -

Next week on Top Chef: Kentucky episode 5, things are going to go from bad to worse in Restaurant Wars.

Judging from what we saw both in the episode tonight in the preview for what’s coming up next week, we’re starting to think there’s a pretty good reason why this part of the competition tends to happen a little bit later in the season. After all, the chefs are a little more accustomed to the show at that point and also know each other infinitely better. This time around, it seems like there’s a lot of communication problems and one of the teams, to be frank, just got a little cocky leading into the episode. The situation on the blue team seems to be complete chaos, as the wait staff isn’t prepared and everyone is running out of time.

Meanwhile, over on the other teams the problems could very well just be food-based. There seem to be many different issues with the teams and the judges don’t seem to be altogether happy with any of the restaurants as a whole. this could be one of those restaurant wars that is all about survival and that’s why it is probably really good for Michelle that she’s got immunity. She is, after all, the only person left in the competition who should feel even remotely safe. For everyone else, however, there should be some sort of prevailing feeling of dread since one mistake could be what causes them to go home.

We know that there are two chefs that are eliminated in this episode and that adds even more to some of the drama. What we wonder right now is how the eliminations will be structured. For example, will there be one team that is immune and the eliminated chefs are split between the two losing teams; or, will the two eliminated chefs go home from the same team? Well, some of that could just be based on the overall quality of the food as a whole and it’s a little bit too early to say. This is probably going to be based more on trial and error than almost anything else.

Let’s just hope that Top Chef: Kentucky does manage to deliver some good food on the other side of all of this — in between the arguing tonight and also what we’ve seen on the latest Last Chance Kitchen, this season seems to be in a little bit of a rut when it comes to chefs being able to handle everything thrown at them.
