Outlander season 4 episode 9 preview: Are Brianna, Jamie meeting?

To be specific, we’re talking about Brianna and Jamie finally meeting! It’s something that has been in the works for a rather-long time and, as it turns out, the characters may all finally be in the same place. That means that they may be able to spend a good bit of time together, but it’s not going to be some idyllic family reunion. For starters, Bree is still going to be suffering from what happened to her at the hands of Stephen Bonnet. It’s not the sort of thing that she can just wake up one day and forget about. There’s also another question that you have to wonder moving forward, as well: Where in the world is Roger? What are we going to see with this man moving forward? He claimed that he was going to go back to the present in the aftermath of his fight with Bree, but we’re not altogether sure he will. (After all, he may have just been acting in the moment.) There is another issue that we also have to think about here: Whether or not there are ramifications to what Lizzie may have thought she saw going on with Brianna and Roger.

As Brianna struggles to compartmentalize the trauma she’s suffered in the wake of the tragedy that befell her in Wilmington, she refocuses on finding her parents and hits a stroke of good luck, discovering that Jamie and Claire are in town as well. The newly reunited family returns to Fraser’s Ridge, where Jamie bonds with Brianna, until dark secrets threaten to tear the Frasers apart.
This episode is almost certainly going to be powerful. It could be joyous at times given that there is such a fantastic moment with Jamie and Bree at the center of it. Yet, it’s also impossible to look at this installment and then completely ignore some of the pain and the hurt that could be right smack in the middle of it. All in all, consider this installment complicated.
