Black Mirror season 5 premiere date reportedly leaks online
According to a report via the Mirror, an official Netflix account temporarily leaked on Twitter that one new episode for the upcoming season is set to launch on December 28. We should note that this was later deleted and with that, we hesitate to say that this is 100% official … though 90% official seems to be a good estimation. As for why the date was deleted, we do suppose it’s possible that the date could be changed, though it may just be that the powers that be over at the streaming service were not altogether keen to get that information out there just yet. Black Mirror is as interesting a show as they come and with that in mind, there is probably a particularly-unique marketing plan that some of the folks over at Netflix have for it.
When it comes to trying to figure out what’s actually coming story-wise on Black Mirror, most details are being kept under a heavy lock and key. Yet, there reports out there that one of these upcoming episodes could be the much-discussed choose-your-own-adventure story that will push the narrative to new places. This would represent the story heavily reaping the benefits that come with it being on Netflix, where there is an opportunity for this sort of user engagement, the likes of which you wouldn’t see as frequently anywhere else.
Black Mirror remains the premier anthology series on TV, one that does a spectacular job week in and week out of finding a way to bring fascinating drama and story storytelling to the table. Its creativity is its greatest strength, and because of the fact that every episode is more or less its own thing, there’s never anything to be concerned about when it comes to whether or not the story is going to be original and/or unique.
No matter what is coming on season 5, at least we know now that we’re not going to have to wait some incredibly-long period of time in order to see it play out. If season 5 does premiere at the end of the year, that properly positions it a good year or so following the premiere of season 4 — all things considered, that’s not all that long to wait for a TV series in 2018. We wouldn’t mind even waiting longer … not that we’re wishing for Netflix to actually delay giving us something that we want in the event that the episodes are actually ready.
