It’s interesting in that many of the show’s main cast members are familiar with Ben Lockwood already. Yet, they may not be altogether aware that he is capable of something like being the man in the mask. In a sense, we get it — Lockwood is charismatic, but to be a leader of that nature may not feel congruous to a guy who, on paper, just seems like a wild conspiracy theorist. He’s been empowered by the likes of Mercy Graves and allowed to become something more.
Yet, how dangerous is he really? That’s an interesting question to wonder given the fact that he’s not actually that physically imposing — or at least that is the way he appears to be right now. The biggest asset that he has is his supporters. Even if you eradicate the world from Agent Liberty, all that may end up doing is empowering some of the people around him. He’s not the sort of villain who is just acting on his own anymore.

CHAD LOWE DIRECTS – James (Mehcad Brooks) falls in deeper with the Children of Liberty in his efforts to meet Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer). Meanwhile, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Manchester Black (guest star David Ajala) follow a lead on Agent Liberty’s location, but things take a dark turn. Lena (Katie McGrath) kicks off her first set of trials. Chad Lowe directed the episode written by Dana Horgan & Katie Rose Rogers (#407). Original airdate 11/25/2018.
It’s nice to see that Chad Lowe is back as a director on the series after appearing as Coville last year. He’s got some extensive directing chops and he should be able to bring a lot of this story’s underlying darkness to the table. The part of it that we’re the most curious about for now are Lena’s trials — what she is doing and, to be specific, what her endgame here is. We’ve seen that she is interested in trying to make humans capable of defending themselves against aliens, and we understand in theory the idea of leveling the playing field. the larger problem here is that it’s incredibly easy to foresee some of this research falling into the wrong hands and doing way more harm than good. Lena has probably considered that already, but it is no guarantee that it will stop something from happening.
