As many of you already know, McNamara is moving over from playing Clary on the Freeform series to an exciting new role on Arrow season 7, one that will be important for at least a stretch of story that lies ahead. Now, she’s also looking beyond that with another notable gig.

According to a report from Deadline, Katherine has signed on to take part in a Hollywood satire from Charlie Day entitled El Tonio, which features Day as a mute performer who ends up becoming a Hollywood sensation. The cast includes the likes of Kate Beckinsale, Jason Sudeiks, John Malkovich, Edie Falco and Ray Liotta; McNamara is set to play some sort of Mayoral campaign manager in the project. Given that she’s done a number of action roles as of late in Shadowhunters and Arrow, this may allow her to dive into different territory and with some new people. Given that this casting was just announced, we have a hard time imagining that it will come out before the premiere of Shadowhunters season 3B on February 25. That’s the first thing on the docket and we’re curious to learn just how much attention the series gets by the network and beyond leading up to it. We know that from the fan perspective, it’ll be promoted through the roof.

Let’s end this article by handing out all sorts of congratulations to McNamara; not only is this great for her career, but any role for a Shadowhunters star is great for the series at large. If this role ends up getting even just a few thousand more people interested in checking out her past work, that may help the show’s legacy and its future in the long run. As we’ve noted for some time, even if there is no season 4 now, that doesn’t negate anything happening down the road. Keep tweeting / discussing the series, and maybe this will help to eventually boost the numbers. One fascinating aspect of the #SaveShadowhunters story has been that there hasn’t yet been an opportunity for fans to actually prove their might to Freeform in terms of viewership; the last episode that aired was the season 3 midseason finale, and at that time there weren’t too many widespread concerns over the future of the show.

What do you think about Katherine scoring this particular new role, and what are you hoping that the future is going to hold for her as a performer the next few years? Be sure to share right now in the comments, and we’ll have more scoop on Shadowhunters as it comes out. (Photo: Freeform.)
