‘Shiptober 2018: Shadowhunters (Magnus & Alec) vs. Supergirl (Kara & Lena)
It’s a chance to celebrate some of the greatest ‘ships that the TV has to offer, and we’ve got a fun tournament this year to go along with it. Over the course of this month, we’ll be running some ‘Shiptober polls while also discussing what makes some of these couples so great and also sharing some teases / expectations for upcoming episodes! This is a chance to celebrate and discuss great ‘ships while gauging their popularity among readers at the same time. Only one ‘ship will be crowned the victor at the very end!
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Only one ‘ship from round 3 will move onward, and we are keeping these polls open until Friday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The following day, the fourth round will officially begin. (All of the information needed can be found in the bracket image above.)
In this ‘Shiptober battle, round three continues! Here, we have what could end up being one of the most-epic showdowns we’ve seen yet. You’ve got Magnus & Alec of Shadowhunters facing off against Kara & Lena of Supergirl, and only one of them will find a way to emerge in one piece.
Magnus & Alec, Shadowhunters (#1 seed) – The run of Malec through the ‘Shiptober tournament really proves the strength of this fandom, especially when you consider the opponents that they’ve squared off against. Phil & Melinda of Agents of SHIELD and Jane & Weller of Blindspot are no pushovers, and now these Shadowhunters favorites are going to be bracing for what could be an epic battle like no other. With that being said, they have faced a number of epic battles over the years — let’s just say that they know a thing or two about adversity. That’s important, given that moving into the second half of season 3 Malec could be facing off against some of their most-notable opponents to date. Yet, isn’t there often a light at the end of the tunnel? There could be some very exciting stuff coming at the end of some darkness.
Kara & Lena, Supergirl (#3 seed) – Now, we move over to Supercorp, a ‘ship that has dominated a couple of CarterMatt polls over the past year and a half. Their fans are among the most-devoted out there, and they have already been pushed pretty hard in ‘Shiptober. This past round, it took the largest vote total of the tournament to date in order to dispatch Lucy & Wyatt of Timeless, and it could take something even more substantial here! Supercorp is taking part in the tournament this year amidst a really interesting time for the characters on the show. Kara and Lena’s relationship could be put to the test due to the Agent Liberty movement — while Lena certainly believes in treating aliens fairly, she also does feel like humanity should be able to defend themselves, as well. She’s in a precarious spot, and it also feels like Kara came very close to revealing herself as Supergirl on this past episode.
