‘Shiptober 2018: Shadowhunters (Clary & Jace) vs. Grey’s Anatomy (Owen & Amelia)
It’s a chance to celebrate some of the greatest ‘ships that the TV has to offer, and we’ve got a fun tournament this year to go along with it. Over the course of this month, we’ll be running some ‘Shiptober polls while also discussing what makes some of these couples so great and also sharing some teases / expectations for upcoming episodes! This is a chance to celebrate and discuss great ‘ships while gauging their popularity among readers at the same time. Only one ‘ship will be crowned the victor at the very end!
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Only one ‘ship will move on to the next round, and we are keeping these polls open until Friday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The following day, the second round will officially begin. (All of the information needed can be found in the bracket image above.)
In this ‘Shiptober battle, we’ve got two ‘ships with loyal audiences in Clary & Jace from Shadowhunters up against Owen & Amelia from Grey’s Anatomy — yet, only one of them is going to be moving forward. (Depending on what happens here, it’s possible for an all-Shadowhunters battle next round if Simon & Izzy advance.)
Clary & Jace, Shadowhunters (#4 seed) – The first ten episodes of season 3 were obviously very important to this couple, as they started to build towards a happier, healthier relationship — unfortunately for them, a certain person in Lilith really came between them with the whole Owl storyline. Moving into season 3B, however, there could be a chance for a little bit more happiness to unfold between the two … at least in theory. Clary & Jace clearly would do everything for each other, and that may be needed depending on what lies around the corner for them at almost every turn. There are some significant threats emerging from the shadows, including some that could surprise them. (The big disappointment is having to wait until 2019 in order to see the series back.)
Owen & Amelia, Grey’s Anatomy (#5 seed) – To date, Owen and Amelia have certainly had a rocky relationship. They’ve been together, been apart, been married, and more recently have split. Now, the two are navigating a world in which they also have family around them. Their relationship has improved in some ways, but there is still no clear definition around it. There are so many reasons why this could end up working for them, but there are still some issues standing in their way. These are the things that we’d like to see navigated and explored a little bit more as we watch the remainder of season 15. Owen and Amelia have proven themselves compelling television, so no matter what happens to them, it’s a story worth watching.
