NCIS season 16 episode 4 preview: Gibbs’ vacation goes awry

If you like Mark Harmon and his character of Gibbs, one thing feels clear: NCIS season 16 episode 4 will be up your alley. “Third Wheel” will put the character front and center for a different sort of investigation, one that takes place beyond the typical walls of NCIS. It also will feature some other familiar faces. It’s an unorthodox case that Gibbs will be taking on, but in some ways, that is the part of the fun of it. There’s something that is always appreciated about a story like this, one that looks and feels different from your standard episode.

Also, it’s a chance to get a great performance from Harmon in the process.

“Third Wheel” – Gibbs’ quiet vacation at his remote cabin is interrupted by a surprise visit from Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano) and Navy Captain Phillip Brooks (Don Lake), as well as a call from NCIS asking for his help locating a robber hiding in the woods near him, on NCIS, Tuesday, Oct. 16 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Is this the sort of case that could lead to more investigations featuring Gibbs and Fornell? We’re certainly all for that, mostly because we’re always game to get people like Joe Spano back. He brings with him a lot of history, and for those of you who love Gibbs’ personal life and friendships, he’s really valuable given that there are only so many appearances he tends to get every single season. We’d like to say that there could be a few more this year, but that is really the best we can possibly hope for.
