Last Man Standing season 7: PaleyFest highlights; new teaser

Last Man Standing season 7 is now officially just two weeks away from premiering. For many people out there, we know it’s been a very long wait! A year and a half has gone by since the end of the sixth season aired on ABC and now, the show has a new network in Fox, new cast members in Jet Jurgensmeyer and Molly McCook, and some new stories.

Yet, while at PaleyFest on Thursday night promoting the show, the cast made it clear once more that the goal for the series is not to dramatically change the show. Instead, the objective is really to bring people together and allow them to have some fun. That’s something that Nancy Travis in particular stressed, stating at the event that there are people from all different backgrounds who come up to her and tell her that they love the show.

As for some specific stories that the series will be addressing, one of the biggest ones is clearly going to revolve around Mike and Vanessa Baxter adjusting to the next phase of their lives, one where their kids are moving forward and getting into new and very-different chapters of their lives. There will be disagreements between the characters, but the objective is to come up with solutions to these disagreements and find a way for everyone to stick together.

While we know that there are many critics out there who seem intent on viewing the show through a political lens, executive producers Matt Berry and Kevin Abbott noted at the panel that this is not their focus. They don’t write stories based on what are the current events generating headlines. Instead it’s about looking at family conflicts and stories that would be interesting for these characters.
