Outlander season 4 trailer presents North Carolina, Roger, Bree, and more

Sophie Skelton

Within this piece we have some of the first impressions when it comes to the Outlander season 4 trailer, something that we’re going to be breaking down a whole lot more over the next few days. (For those wondering why we weren’t a little more on the ball with it, we were in Chicago for the One Chicago press day when it was revealed).

What we do love about this trailer upon the first few viewings is that it does give you a good many of the things that we certainly wanted. For example, we have more Roger and Bree here than any other promotional material for the season to date. This is certainly something that we’ve been hoping to see and this delivered on many fronts. There’s also a quick tease of Bree that we definitely did not expect in the trailer — if you didn’t notice and don’t read the books, we don’t want to say anything more here.

Also, we do think that this trailer does a good job of introducing some of the new characters who are going to be populating this world, and that of course includes Aunt Jocasta and Stephen Bonnet — while the latter character is far from likable, it’s hard to deny his importance on this season.

Of course, the setting for season 4 in North Carolina is very much a character in its own right. This is where Jamie and Claire are going to eventually call their home and, while they may be hopeful about it, there are going to be a number of unexpected setbacks along the way. While they may have a whole lot of hope and understandably so, this is not going to be a journey that comes altogether easily for them. There are going to be problems aplenty and they have to be prepared for that.

Outlander season 4 will premiere on Starz come Sunday, November 4.
