13 Reasons Why season 3 spoilers: Check out two new series regulars!
According to a new report coming in via Deadline, Timothy Granaderos, who was recurring in the first two seasons, has been promoted to series regular. The same, meanwhile, goes for Brenda Strong after she was around as a recurring player last season. Granaderos plays the character of Montgomery, who can hardly be considered a good person. He’s one of the resident bullies at Liberty High, and certainly someone who is responsible for a great deal of pain.
Meanwhile, Strong plays the role of Bryce’s mother on the series. Clearly, this promotion is an indicator that there are some big stories coming up for Bryce in some capacity even though he was “transferred” to another school at the end of last season. Beyond that, these promotions also signify that Netflix is committing to these performers in the long-term and they have some plans for them … which makes us wonder even more about a possible season 4. If you think back to the first season, it was hard to feel all that confident that we would ever get a second season, let alone a third.
Yet, here we are, and we hope that there is a greater emotional journey ahead. We’ve said this for some time now, but after all of the terrible things that we’ve seen for some of these people, we’re really hoping that season 3 will be one about healing, about characters starting to take the next steps in order to be better in the long-term. We don’t think that the show necessarily needs another tragedy or event like that to bring in viewership and get people talking. In the end, the investment should just be in the characters at this point.
13 Reasons Why season 3 is going to premiere on Netflix at some point in 2019, but until then we will continue to bring you more scoop on the show.
