Survivor: David vs. Goliath pre-game: Six players to watch
Let’s face it: There’s a ton of pre-season coverage out there, including interviews, videos, and CBS bios. Yet, a lot of it doesn’t necessarily equate to how good of a player someone will be. We’re leaving strategy at the door with this article and talking mostly about people we’re excited to watch for one reason or another, whether it be their background, where they fit on the tribe, or even just their profession or appearance. These are the people who initially stood out to us.

Angelina Keeley – She’s very smart, successful, and well-educated. She went to Stanford and Yale and, per Jeff Probst, she wants to try to keep her credentials somewhat under wraps. She also lists “political activism” as one of her hobbies, and that really should be interesting even more in the modern era of this game.
Elizabeth Olson – She’s an interesting character in that she loves her cowboy hat and apparently wears it all the time. She’s been working since she was really young and she’s probably either going to be a Sue Hawk type or a Rick Nelson type. There’s really no in between.
John Hennigan – The guy is a massive pro wrestler and the sort of dude you’ll look at and say that he’s an immediate target. He’s basically so obvious a threat that it feels almost impossible that he will make it to the end of the game, but given how many Survivor players like to pretend that they’re professional wrestlers, it’ll be fun to see a real one out there.
Lyrsa Torres – She’s got a great underdog story, coming from Puerto Rico and moving up the career ladder and finding success for her. She seems like the sort of person who will do very well socially, and that will help to mask for any deficiencies that she has in terms of physical strength. She’s also going to be very blunt and likely entertaining.
Mike White – He’s an accomplished writer/producer known for School of Rock, Enlightenment, and more. He’s also a former Amazing Race contestant. We have no idea how well he’s going to do out there, but he’s accomplished enough that he shouldn’t be altogether intimidated by the game. We just don’t know if he can handle the physicality.
Pat Cusack – This guy’s got a ton of tattoos, a difficult upbringing, and it seems like he knows and understands the game very well. He’s never going to be able to fade into the background, but he seems like a super-real and really interesting dude who probably isn’t going to get along with everyone, but may do rather well in the right alliance.
