Call the Midwife season 8 filming nearing its conclusion (video)

Call the Midwife season 8

While you wait for Call the Midwife season 8 to be here, there is something important worth noting: Filming is almost done!

The new video below via the series’ official Twitter account (see below) makes it clear that production on the upcoming batch of episodes is almost done leading up to the Christmas Special this December. That episode actually filmed many months ago, and the series is now working on episodes that will either air in late February or early March in the UK … provided, of course, that the series utilizes the same release schedule that they have in the past. (Typically, the BBC has a tendency to be coy when it comes to when some of their shows are coming up. It’s hard to imagine that this is going to change moving into this year.)

As for what lies on this coming season, we imagine that writer Heidi Thomas and her team are going to continue to put a focus on a number of the major issues that were prevalent in the time, and also ones that have a message that can carry over to the present. Some may still be reeling from the death of Barbara, and others may be focused on their own recovery. We’re hoping that Trixie will return in a more regular capacity after being gone from the show for a stretch of time last year (due to Helen George’s real-life pregnancy).

No matter what changes are unearthed in the world of this show, though, we imagine that one thing is going to remain the same: The focus of the series is very likely to still be all about some of the heroes who do everything that they can to help young mothers not only welcome their babies, but also live their best lives. This is a show that can at times be sad, but we do still think that it offers up some hope for the future.
