Supergirl season 4 spoilers: Red Son-inspired story may not happen immediately

Supergirl season 3 episode 13

Moving into Supergirl season 4, it makes sense to raise some questions about that second iteration of Kara we saw in the closing minutes. This is the story that is apparently inspired in part by the Red Son comics featuring Superman, and while this tease is intriguing, it also doesn’t seem as though the writers are altogether eager to give you answers right away. That may actually make sense for a number of reasons, including that they may want to take their time actually setting that up. As it is, the idea of there being another Kara is something that may be especially confusing to viewers who are not familiar with the comics.

Speaking on the subject of what lies ahead with this story via TVLine, executive producer Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller made it clear that this character was “going to be threaded in as a mystery that doesn’t come to fruition until later this season.”

So what do the writers have in store in the more immediate future? Think along the lines of the Agent Liberty story, which seems to revolve in part around an ever-increasing division between humans and aliens that is brought on by people looking to preach a message of hate. The show plans to take on many super-timely stories that relate the show to what is happening in the real world — and, to go along with that, you’re also going to have a chance to see more of Kara Danvers the reporter. We’re personally anticipating a lot of story featuring her and Nia Nal (Nicole Maines), a character who eventually will embrace an alter ego of Dreamer.

We think that this is going to be a story about overcoming fear and hate to find a better future … but we’re just going to have to wait and see just how a second Kara factors into everything.
