Could Supergirl season 4 be introducing Parallax?

Sometimes, Supergirl episode titles have a way of making us think certain characters are coming, and such is the case today.

Per a new report coming in via SpoilerTV, the title for the upcoming fifth episode of the season is “Parallax.” For those of you who are fans of the Green Lantern comics, Parallax should be familiar to you. It is a demonic, parasitic entity that has been around for ages, and one that has an ability to drive fear, paranoia, and destruction into the masses. It can bond with hosts and create a wide array of chaos as a result of that. Like many other characters, there have been many different versions of Parallax over time.

Of course, all of this speculation is hampered somewhat by the fact that this is a show about Supergirl and Green Lantern has not been explicitly brought in to the Arrowverse just yet (though there have been some Easter eggs here or there along the way — remember the rumors that Diggle was going to be John Stewart?). We’d love for Parallax to be a way in which for Green Lantern to eventually enter the fray, but this could also just be an example of Supergirl borrowing from other comic series — provided that this title means what we think that it means. We’ve certainly seen Arrow and The Flash before each feature enemies that are more well-known from other comics. The Green Arrow, for example, has faced off with many characters known as Batman villains. Meanwhile, The Flash has fought foes of The Atom and others.

For now, it’s probably best to not make any assumptions; yet, given that we live in a very paranoid world these days, it is easy to make some coherent arguments as to why it would make some sense to introduce Parallax into the Arrowverse at this time.
