Criminal Minds season 14: Will Kirsten Vangsness write again this season?

Criminal Minds - Garcia

One of the things that is making Criminal Minds season 14 so fascinating is that so many of the cast members have behind-the-scenes roles. Whether it be AJ Cook, Matthew Gray Gubler, Adam Rodriguez, or some others, a good many of the episodes this season are being directed by series regulars. Given that there are currently only 15 episodes this season, that is even more impressive.

As for whether or not you could see Kirsten Vangsness take on the role of director in the future, don’t expect that to happen. Speaking via Parade, she explained that it’s just not something that she is personally interested in:

I don’t think I’m built as well for directing, honestly, just processing what everybody else is doing. It’s already a whole hullabaloo when I write a thing and I doubt myself. I feel like in order to be a director … I can lead in certain ways, maybe someday in the future, but not right now.

Vangsness has done some writings on the show, however, with series showrunner Erica Messer, and at the moment, it does seem as though this is going to continue. While Kirsten notes to the publication that nothing is confirmed as of yet, it does seem fairly likely that she’ll be back in the role again this season. The fourteenth season is premiering this fall on CBS, and we hope that there’s a chance for a fifteenth or more down the line. That way, there are more chances to see Vangsness work on some scripts, in addition to of course playing the role of Penelope Garcia on the series.

When it comes to Garcia, of course there are some other challenges coming up this season — with the biggest one being surviving the cliffhanger. Should she make it out of there, this is the sort of thing that sticks with you.
