Bull season 3 episode 1 photo: The new Dr. Jason Bull

For everyone excited to see Bull season 3 episode 1, we’ve got a new teaser (albeit a small one) of what is coming up next!

Late last week, CBS released a handful of new photos from the first episode airing on the network come Tuesday, September 25, and one of the latest ones can be seen above.

On the surface, this may not appear to be much other than just seeing Bull sitting at a table. Yet, there are a few subtle things here that are important and a sign of how Michael Weatherly’s character has changed over the course of the hiatus. This is a guy who is showing up to the TAC office clean-shaven, with a new haircut, and he actually looks just as much as Tony DiNozzo from NCIS as he does Jason Bull from this past season. That’s a good thing, given that Bull shouldn’t be the same person that we saw over the course of the first two seasons. After the heart attack last year, Bull does need to change things up and get himself in a better place mentally.

The real challenge for Bull is going to be what comes on the other side of this photo, and that is seeing him deal with a wide array of different cases that are very significant sources of stress. Typically, when you’re coming off of a heart attack you don’t want to continue to put yourself in extreme situations. However, with this guy he lives a life that is constantly surrounded by stress and it’s inevitable that he is going to find himself in spots that are challenging for him. He has to figure out whether or not he is going to be able to handle those — if he can’t, the TAC may not be right for him anymore.
