Ink Master season 11 video: Cleen Rock One, Christian Buckingham set the stage
So how is this season going to work? On paper, it feels reasonably similar to the last in that you’ve got two famous Ink Master alum at the center of the series and then presumably a number of new artists they are trying to help to get their way through the competition. These guys are both great artists — that much should be clear at this point. They also do have one of the most intense rivalries that we’ve seen through the show’s history.
Do we worry on some level that the attention given to the returnees somehow could supersede the newcomers? Sure, but last season did find a way to make things work with some of the great artists that you had like Juan and the eventual winner in Josh Payne. The ability of the other artists to stand out is really going to be based mostly on their skills and entertainment value. While we know that Ink Master is a tattooing show first and foremost, it’s also about building a brand for yourself so you can get even work after the show. That’s why people like Cleen and Christian are so successful: They’re great artists, but they also are memorable thanks to their personalities and they constantly find a way to stand out.

Ink Master season 11 (officially titled Ink Master: Grudge Match Road to Rivalry — quite a mouthful) is premiering on the Paramount Network come August 28. That is only two weeks from tonight! That’s not a whole lot of time to prepare for it, but we certainly hope that it will live up to what we know and love about this show.
