Power season 5 episode 8 video: Is it Dre’s day of reckoning?
When you think about the trajectory of this story at the moment, it makes a certain degree of sense that now be the time in which he goes. Tommy and Ghost have been circling him for a while, and were it not for Tariq in the premiere, they probably would have had him killed then. Now, they could have another opportunity as Dre stands in the way of most of what they want — also, we think that Ghost sees Dre as the solution to his family’s problem. If he can find a way to pin everything from Rayna to Ray Ray on Dre, that means that most of the other problems impacting himself, Tasha, and Angela could eventually be resolved. That’s going to be much easier said than done, though, given that there is still a case being built against Angela with her relationship with Jamie at the center of everything.
Also, there is another problem that could keep Ghost’s plan from working out the way in which he wants: Kanan. While Kanan also wants Dre out of the picture, he wants everything done on his own terms. This partnership that he’s had with Ghost and Tommy this season is born in part out of convenience. He’s still manipulating Ghost’s son and throwing him down a dark path. Really, not all that much has changed versus last season, save for maybe the fact that all of these men have a common enemy. What happens if that enemy is gone is a compelling tease both for this season as well as season 6.
