Poldark season 5 spotlight: The future of Aidan Turner’s Ross

Poldark season 4

As we move towards Poldark season 5, quite possibly the final season of the series, what could lie ahead for some of our favorite characters? Over the course of the coming weeks, this is certainly something we will be addressing further! In these spotlight articles, we are going to be taking a look at some of our favorite characters on the BBC series while we work to figure out just what their future could be, of course based on everything that we’ve had a chance to see so far.

Of course, along the way here remember that there are some season 4 spoilers!

It only makes sense to kick things off today with Aidan Turner’s character of Ross, given that he is the heartbeat of the series and most of the action of it runs through him. Moving into season 5, it is also clear that he is a character in mourning. While Demelza may be the love of his life, Elizabeth was his first love and losing her is going to be an emotional blow. Even if the story jumps forward in season 5, we do still want to see that remain on his mind. It’s even more valuable when you think for a moment about the lingering paternity questions in relation to Valentine. While we are never going to get anything that constitutes a universal answer on this subject, it absolutely still remains a question that we’d love to see remain a key part of the series.

This, of course, brings us to the next point — George. Without Elizabeth around, there is a reasonably good chance that the feud between him and Ross explodes in some new directions. We’re certainly game to see that play out now, especially as George has to make decisions regarding how he wants to treat Valentine and if he doesn’t find out the truth about the way in which his wife died. These two have been a little bit like Batman and the Joker for the entirety of the series’ run and we definitely do want to see that continuity.

If it does continue, doesn’t Ross need a little bit more in the way of comfort? We think so and it’s with that in mind we do want to see everything become truly peaceful for he and Demelza at home. While they will have many an argument (as most couples do), we do think that they are coming to a point when most of their big squabbles should be a thing of the past and they can start to full move forward as one. We want some romance for the two of them, but they also should be thinking more about what they want their future and final legacy to be. Can Ross continue to straddle the lines of Cornwall and London, and has Demelza decided entirely that she is keen to continue a life away from the city? The more great Poldark family moments we get during season 5, the happier we know we’re going to be.

More than likely, Poldark season 5 is going to premiere in 2019, and we plan on having more news every step of the way.
