Denise Richards joining Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
This week, it was confirmed that the former The World is Not Enough star is heading over to the Bravo franchise as a main cast member for the upcoming season, where she will join some franchise staples including Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna, Erika Girardi, Teddi Mellencamp and Dorit Kemsley. In a new statement (via Us Weekly), Richards even references the close relationship that Kemsley has with Culture Club legend Boy George:
“I am so excited to join the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as I am a huge fan of the show … I am looking forward to spending time with all the ladies … and hopefully meeting Boy George!”
What Richards brings to the Bravo series is significant star power, both for her roles and also some of the tabloid headlines that she’s been at the center of due to her personal life. Given that this is a particular edition of the show that is geared around stars, this is what the series really needs to do — but it’s also no guarantee that Richards will be successful on the show. You have to be open about your life, entertaining, and also generate a little bit of conflict in order to be successful. It’s almost counter-intuitive in some ways to real life, where you want to get along with other people and not cause any problems. The most successful cast members on The Real Housewives franchise almost always seem to have at least one active feud going in addition to a lot of drama in their personal life.
The premiere of the new season is still months away most likely, but we’ll share more details when they are out there.
