Crime Dynamic Duos: NCIS (Gibbs / McGee) vs. Blindspot (Jane / Weller)
What are the rules of the tournament? Basically, all eligible shows have to still be in the midst of their run on TV as of August 1, and at least one character involved needs to be involved in solving crimes in some capacity. They can be a cop, a private investigator, a federal agent, a lawyer or a high-ranking officer. What matters is that they put plenty of bad people away.
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Voting for Round 1 is open until Friday, August 10 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. Round 2 will begin the following day; the image at the top of the article should explain everything.
In this article, we’ve got two formidable duos that come from shows that have loyal fanbases — the relationships between the characters also very much different! In one corner, we’ve got Gibbs and McGee from NCIS; meanwhile, in the other we have Jane and Weller from Blindspot.
Gibbs and McGee, NCIS (#2 seed) – It’s really fun to look at this relationship just in terms of its scope and its journey. Think about where these two characters were back in season 1, when McGee was really still getting his sea legs. Now, look at where the two are. Tim is now one of Gibbs’ most-trusted members of the team and he carries with him invaluable experience in the field. He knows how to work hard and also how to get the job done when the situation calls for it. He’s also learned how to be a mentor to other people within the team. While there are certainly other great duos within the world of the show, this is one that we especially enjoy being able to check out week in and week out.
Jane and Weller, Blindspot (#7 seed) – Of course, one of the things that makes these two characters so interesting together is that they aren’t always a duo in a traditional sense. We’ve seen them work together and even be a romantic couple, but we’ve also seen them work against each other when the situation calls for it. Their relationship can be rather combustible, but at the end of the day we know that they care for each other when the chips are down. They are certainly going to need that moving into the fourth season, as the Remi twist is going to challenge them in some ways that neither one of them has been challenged at all to date. We hope that they are truly ready for what is set to lie ahead.
