After Poldark season 5, could Aidan Turner re-team with series writer?
As a matter of fact, the collaboration could be on an even more notable adaptation in The Count of Monte Cristo. Horsfield is reportedly developing a new version of the classic literary work for a major British network. Her producing partners over at Mammoth Screen are also still involved, and per the Radio Times, Turner is a possible candidate for the lead role. Will that pan out? That remains to be seen, since we figure that there could be other TV and film possibilities for him out there after season 5 filming later this year.
Nonetheless, this is one intriguing possibility that would keep Turner on our television sets, and that is something that we’ would love to see happen.
For a little bit more information on the project, take a look at what Horsfield had to say about her plans to the aforementioned website:
“There are several new projects I’m working on, but following our five-year collaboration on Poldark, I’m thrilled to be continuing my relationship with [executive producers] Damien Timmer and Karen Thrussell at Mammoth Screen by developing The Count of Monte Cristo with them.
“Dumas’ classic is one of the greatest adventure stories of all time and we’re excited to be bringing his compelling characters and edge of the seat storytelling to the screen.”
One of the reasons why Horsfield is already able to look towards the future is because there are many episodes of Poldark season 5 already written. They have to be before production on the season can even begin! She’ll be able to get a jump on this new series before too long and hopefully, at some point in the coming months more details can be released. We’d love to see this make it on the air at some point in 2020. If Turner ends up getting a part, it’s hard to see it back too much earlier than that.
