Wynonna Earp season 3 ratings: How did the Syfy series kick off?
With that being said, there are some especially big caveats with this particular episode. The premiere on Friday night was technically a repeat, given that there was a special airing of it earlier in the week. The expectation from Syfy had to be that the ratings were going to be lower because of that, just as they were also likely aware that they would be lower because of San Diego Comic-Con and all of that assorted excitement that was going on this past week.
Overall, the first episode, at least in terms of live+same-day ratings (the most important measurements for monetization), drew around 370,000 viewers and a 0.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. While these numbers do mark a decline versus the season 2 premiere and the season 2 average, remember the caveats that we first told you about. The season 2 premiere didn’t have a special airing of it earlier in the week so everyone had to tune in live on the same day if they wanted to watch the premiere. The numbers for the premiere are actually pretty comparable to what the show generated during the week of San Diego Comic-Con last year, so there’s really not too much of a difference at all here.
We’re certainly curious to see how Wynonna Earp season 3 episode 2 (which you can preview here) will fare when we get around to Friday, largely due to the fact that this is really the first episode where the bulk of the fandom will be watching live in its typical timeslot. Technically, we know that the live ratings don’t matter too much right now given that the show has already been renewed for a fourth season, but we still want to see the numbers stay good and strong for the sake of the long-term future!
